Coming to you LIVE from the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel in Sweet Home Alabama!

Over the next couple weeks, I have a really awesome opportunity to attend three conferences in multiple cities that I’ve yet to visit. I’ll do my best to keep you posted on my social media, and I’ll find a way to make my updates entertaining :)

This week: I attended the NIRSA Region II Conference in Birmingham. Here are some highlights (photos below for some more context) -

• I had the awesome chance to speak on a Young Professionals Panel to NIRSA Student Members about preparing for their first job, crushing the interview process, and finding their place in the professional world.
• I slid over to UAB’s University Recreation Facility for a workout to make sure I lived out my values. Side note - I really enjoyed their signage and wall wraps, but that’s the marketing nerd in me!
• I got to reconnect with hundreds of my colleagues that work at schools in our region (essentially the Southeast region of the US).
  
  

Steph Goetz (far right) and I completed grad school together at JMU. When we were students, we’d get taken to lunch at conferences by professionals, and we promised each other that we would return the favor when we “made it.” This has now become an annual tradition, and Dylan/JP are two incredible NIRSA students. Eugene’s Hot Chicken was the perfect setting with some great eats!

Upcoming Travel:

• Steven and I will ride from here to New Orleans to represent Globetrotter Wellness Solutions at the Athletic Business Show! We’ll have a vendor booth in the expo hall and I’ll get to support Steven presenting multiple times throughout the week!
• From there, I’ll take a couple days to slide up to Baton Rouge and visit some old pals! I’m excited to check out LSU’s renown recreational and athletic facilities.
• Lastly - I’ll slide back down to New Orleans for the NIRSA Marketing Institute - a conference that occurs every other year and is dedicated to the marketing and promotion of collegiate recreation.

This much travel is a good bit out of my comfort zone, so say a prayer and send me any travel tips you may have!
